I love being mixed-race. Even more, I love being mixed-culture. Okay, I grew up in Scotland for most of my life, but my Mum and the Chinese half of my family always made sure I kept in touch with my Chinese heritage.
This absolutely does not mean that I condone the culinary travesty that is Haggis Won Ton
*shudder* For me, being multicultural isn’t about meshing things together artificially, nor is it about keeping two spheres separate from each other. It’s just about… Living, really. Identifying with all your parts. It doesn’t necessarily mean flaunting it (although that mostly stems from the twin personally conservative cultures of being Cantonese and Scottish. It’s a wonder I have enough confidence to carry on doing this comic!) Anyone who tells you that you need to pick a culture and stick with it is a moron. And probably a bigot. But mostly a moron.
Celebrate multiculturalism! Go learn about your friends, their people and their customs! Enjoy life, dammit! Because it’s just too short to hate.

forgive me… the first thing that came to mind after reading your post is the starburst commercial about the Scotch-Korean. i do agree with what u said though, especially in this day and age there r very few people who r not multicultural and there is no reason we cant all aspects of ourselves and others
