Last week’s post was somewhat heavy, so I thought I’d intersperse it with something nice and light. And what’s lighter than…. Nothing?

If there’s one thing working my job is that it’s incredibly important to just wind down, and do absolutely nothing from time to time. So, let’s kick back and do not very much for a bit!

Iced coffee is nice. Not many people are keen on it, but I love it. I’m not talking about frappuccinos, I’m talking properly brewed coffee, chilled, nice and milky, cubes of ice. It makes for a fantastic summer drink. Why am I drinking it during Autumn? Trying to claw back some of the summer, I suppose!

I picked up a couple of new albums by artists I previously haven’t listened to. First, Crossroads by Mind.In.A.Box. It sounds almost 80s-esque, with some nice synthy stuff going on, and veeeeery continental vocal styling. What’s nice about it is that it’s proper electronica, and while it’s still got a good beat it’s a great deal mellower than the Electronic Body Music I tend to listen to. Recommended. I also picked up We Are The Others by Delain, symphonic metal. I really love the vocals in this group; pretty much the only symphonic metal I own is Nightwish, from the Tarja era. While her vocals are good, I think I’ve maybe listened a little TOO much to her style. Delain’s vocalist (I forget her name and am too full of iced coffee to check) has a more natural voice, without going into the poppy tones of Amaranthe’s female singer. Plus, the instruments are nice and heavy too. All in all, well worth the purchase!

Anyhoo, I’d best be scuttling off. Toodlepip!
