A brief complaint.

Ahoy thar folks, nothing much from me to report today, other than – how expensive are A3 scanners??? I mean, a decent quality one can start out in the low thousands of pounds, unless you want to compromise and get one that’s liable to break on you. Fortunately, the only thing I need to scan in right now is pencils for a competition entry, so I can just half that and stitch it back together in photoshop. For paintings and drawings, though, I reckon I’ll just photograph them instead… read more

Instagram, just add pictures.

Hola folks! Hope you’re having a great weekend (assuming you do get today off as well – if not, you have my condolences and sympathies!)

I’ve decided to set up an Instagram account, as people have pointed out how odd it is that I work in a primarily visual medium, and yet am not on the most visual of social media platforms. We made it!

Woo! Another long weekend, and I’m feeling reasonably good! Nothing major planned, seeing as it’s just a bonus day, but at the very least I’m hoping to get some print stuff sorted out. And, since it’s been MONTHS since I’ve done anything, I really need to pick up my Mandarin and Spanish lessons again.

Anyone got any fun plans for the long weekend?

Hey folks! I’ve got a couple of things I want to have a quick natter about today!

First off: Is anyone else watching the Mystery Science Theatre 3000 revival on Netflix? It’s so very good! Unfortunately, I never got to experience MST3K the first time round, I think I was a little too young for it at the time (not to mention that I didn’t have satellite or cable TV back in the day), so this is my first exposure to it. And it’s INCREDIBLY entertaining. The movies are deliciously clichéd, but never truly painful to watch, and the banter is always well-observed and hilarious, never malicious. It really does feel like watching bad movies with your mates and riffing on all the tropes you can feast on. I’d definitely recommend watching it! read more

Backstory!

I’ve really been looking forward to drawing this page! It gives a bit of backstory into Silk Glove, and why she is the way she is. I’m quite enjoying her character, because her violence-by-default nature allows for a bit of catharsis, but it’s not simply that she’s a stereotypical ‘psycho’ – there’s vulnerability and history beneath the tough, painted-on exterior she keeps.

Hey everyone! Hope you’ve all had a lovely weekend and a wonderful easter, if that’s the kind of thing you celebrate! Me, I had a nice lunch with the family – which took up most of the day, so I’m literally only just finishing today’s page now, and I haven’t actually been to bed… Fortunately, I’ve adapted to sleeping in this chair, so I’ll need to go, have a shower and some breakfast, and tackle a little bit of dayjob work (important people, presentatons, not enough time) before I start doing my own stuff today! read more

Finally!

Phew! Probably the most stretched-out page I’ve ever done. Sorry it took so long to get this out, folks, but I’ve been really busy both at work and socially, but hopefully now I’ll be able to get back into my creative groove 🙂

So glad it’s a bank holiday weekend – gonna take some time to recharge and do stuff I don’t normally get the chance to do. Gonna take a trip into Glasgow, grab some new pastels, maybe a bit of lego architecture if there’s any new sets, hit up Rishi’s for some dhosa, do some pastel drawing, some music composition, some gaming… You know, the usual way I relax, by planning to do far too much at one time 😛 read more

Nice day out

Hi everybody – I’m running very late again, unfortunately. I really need to sort out my time management. Again, it’s nice that I’m able to catch up with different groups of friends, but it’s beginning to impact my artwork, and I’m not particularly happy about that.

Life – it’s all about balance, eh?
