Un plus! Another short story
Hello all! As promised, another short story from last week’s workshop! Quite looking forward to tonight’s writing group, as I’ll be presenting the final few pages of the script I’m writing for submission. It seems to have been well-received thus far!
Anyway, have a great week, and I’ll see you on Friday!

Story Prompt: A character has to escape from an abusive partner.
“I’m sorry, that’s my decision, and we’re going with it.”
“Lou, please, can’t we just stop and-”
“Nope. This way is best. End of.”
“Will you just-”
“End. Of.”
Lou slammed the door upon exit, punctuating the point. Alex’s temples were throbbing, as repressed anger cascaded down constrictive veins. It was always Lou’s way, or none at all. Even when they had first gotten together, it was Lou had determined where they met, Lou who had decided who they went to see, Lou who had dictated what they should do.
Alex had thought many times of leaving. A fresh start, something new, maybe something completely different. It was the same point, though, that Alex stalled on every time. Was it right to abandon all they had worked towards? Not just to let all that they had built crumble, but to swipe the keystone out from the bridge?
Alex’s eyes darted to the wall. Lou was in every photo on it; Alex was virtually a non-entity. Even in day-to-day life, it was the same. Electricity, gas, deliveries, Lou insisted on dealing with them all, so that Alex wouldn”t have to worry’. Pssht. Lou didn’t trust Alex, and they both knew it.
“Screw it”, thought Alex. Every relationship needed trust, and there had never been any in this; It had all been an illusion, conjured up by Alex’s own mind to mask the cracks. Alex threw a finger up at the photos on the wall, and opened up a new document on the computer. It began:
“Dear asshole. I am selling up my shares and taking my clients with me…”
