Hi everyone,

Sorry for hijacking the comic directly, but this is even MORE important than the Independence Referendum.

Hong Kong, my birth city, home to half my family, is undergoing real political strife right now. And I could not be prouder of the people making a stand.

It’s going to be a dangerous, difficult time for Hong Kong. And I doubt we can affect real political change – Beijing is simply too powerful to bow to the protests of the people.

But we must speak up.

If we don’t protest like this, Beijing will simply steamroll over us, taking away freedom and control and imposing the mainland system on Hong Kong. We need to let them know that we will resist, and that if that is what they wish, then they had better be prepared to win us over, one by one.

If I were a religious man, I’d be praying that we can keep up the peaceful, non-violent protest. Even the police have stepped down their efforts – tear gas and batons were a poor choice for responding to a peaceful demonstration, and I’m glad they haven’t repeated themselves.

Please, read the news. Share the news. Get in touch with your own representatives and find out what they can do, what your country can do to help.

And if you’re out there on the streets of Hong Kong right now, please stay safe brothers and sisters. Don’t expose yourself or anyone else to more risk than is necessary – you’re doing a great job. Let’s avoid giving the PLA any excuse to come in.
