Happy Birthday, Elf Blood!
Guess what! Elf Blood is THREE YEARS OLD this week! How awesome is that? It’s not been an easy journey, and there’s been a hell of a lot of learning along the way, but damn if it hasn’t been fun!
I never thought, when I started, that I’d still be as passionate about the comic as I was at the beginning, that I would’ve improved so much as a writer and an artist, and that I would be entertaining hundreds, thousands of people from all around the world. Elf Blood isn’t just a comic to me: It’s allowed me to prove that I can do comics, and inspired me with the confidence and discipline to create print comics, currently standing at one published and one graphic novel halfway-done.
You guys are awesome. You’ve stuck with me and the story through technical difficulties, mental health difficulties, and artistic block. You’ve supported me with your kind words and enthusiasm, asked me all sorts about the comic and the world I’ve created (which I friggin love!), you’ve provided me with help when I’ve not quite done things right, and you’ve conducted yourselves with dignity and restraint when controversy within the comic has split you. I’m glad I’ve been able to entertain you all this time, and I’ll do my very best to make the future stories even better for you!
If I do manage to get my creative career truly up and running, you can be sure I’ll keep on doing Elf Blood. Those of you who read some time back about the origins of Elf Blood in its prototype, ‘Prodigy’, will know that this is a story that’s been brewing since I was about 13 or 14. It’s something that’s very close to my heart, and each character really represents a different facet of me. You’ll probably see the end of this when I retire, so that’s a good forty years left at least 😛 (Or, if we continue electing Tory governments, NEVER </politics>)
Anyway, hope you’re still enjoying the comic! Let’s make the next year even more awesome! For me, for you, for everybody!

I would think there would be some guards around here seeing that the place has recently been attacked or at least a clean up crew. Anyway i’m glad to know your having fun making this comic.
I thought of that 😛 If you look back at when SKO and Dr. Wehrner were talking, Dr. Wehrner suggests that her cleanup team “isn’t very good”, and that SKO “might need to recover some files later”. The current scene takes place after the cleanup crew have been, and have removed the more sensitive documents. They’ve obviously been instructed to leave some behind and disable the locks, on the understanding that SKO would be there soon to secure them. There’s no witnesses there so that SKO can look at the files without having to be punished for it, as she has not actually been read into her own program.
