Friday, woo!
It’s Friday and I’m intensely glad to see it! Spot of dinner at a colleague’s restaurant with some good friends, more illustration in the evening, Payday 2 on the go… Plenty to distract from the mind-numbing horrors of the modern office.
So, people have expressed some interest in allowing me to use Elf Blood time to illustrate a print-work, if I put it up here like it was a semi-weekly. It’s encouraging to hear! If nobody objects, I might insert a 10-pager in between this arc of Elf Blood, and the next. It’d definitely help me out, and I think you’ll enjoy the characters!
Also, have you heard of the Ubuntu Edge? It’s a new phone that runs the eponymous flavour of Linux as its OS, and can dual-boot with Android. Scuttlebutt is that it’s close to breaking a crowdfunding record, with only six days to go until time’s up! It’s a nifty-looking device, with plenty of features you’d expect from a top-flight smartphone, at a much lower price. Here, take a look:

Check it out!

The record is GONE!
Verified! http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-23714549 Congratulations to the Ubuntu Edge team!
I have a question, what are those things on the suits shoulders for? (I hope you have a good weekend)
I just had an awesome meal with some awesome friends, and I’m going to see what should be an awesome film with another awesome friend tomorrow, so I’d say the weekend is looking good already 😀 Those are the microjets, I placed them there to mimic the wings of the Polish Hussars for whom the suit is named; When they fire, they leave wing-like trails as well. The suit itself is also a reference to Linna Yamazaki’s hardsuit from Bubblegum Crisis, a major influence in my love of science-fiction and cyberpunk.
I wondered if powered armour was ever going to be a part of this series…
I must confess, some of my earliest anime watching involved Bubblegum Crisis 2040; Priss S. Asagiri still tops my favourite character list, and Sonoda Kenichi is one of my favourite artists/designers of all time. Like it says somewhere in here (memory fuzzy, illustrating with the aid of a rather large White Russian; work annoying, long story), Hussar shares a couple of design elements with Linna Yamazaki’s hardsuit, because although I personally LOVE Priss’ hardsuit, Linna’s was always the more interesting one. The powered armour isn’t going to be a major part of the stories, but it will feature from time-to-time!
I didn’t mind 2040; I’d already seen the original Bubblegum Crisis and the side show, AD POlice (plus GM’s the RPG too).
I can see some of the elements here in your work – nice.
