Hey folks! Yay, a new story page!
Well, I’m coming to the end of my 2 weeks of holiday, throughout which I’ve done… very little. Which is great, because normally I try and hit targets while on holiday and don’t get enough rest. This time, however, I feel I’ve had the chance to rest and recharge my batteries, and now I’m ready to get back into a routine!
I’ve also got some big news that I’m not quite ready to release yet, but it’s very very exciting! So hold on to your seats 🙂
Hey folks! Sorry about the Extra page – Unfortunately, my Cintiq is giving up the ghost. On the plus side, it was my birthday week this week, so I’ve managed to purchase a replacement! 8 years this tablet has done me, which is not too bad considering how heavy it’s been used! I think it’s the power supply – maybe if I can furnish it with a replacement, I can donate it to somebody who needs an input device. But the new tablet is MUCH more up to date, and I’m really looking forward to setting it up!
Hey folks! Since today’s a scheduled Extra day (I know, how would you tell the difference?) I thought I’d practice a new technique! I’ve been trying to figure out how the hell to do rendered style shading for YEARS now, and everything’s finally just clicked – the culmination of a lot of reading, studying, and this article in particular.
Still got a LOT of practice to go before I’m happy with it, but damn if it isn’t satisfying for a first try at colouring in this way! Now, I’ll probably still stick with the ‘cel-shaded’ look I’ve been using for years, but for covers and print work – maybe even short comic work – I think this will be very useful for.
Hey folks! This week hasn’t been as busy as I’d feared it would be, which has been nice – managed to get today’s page done, and I’m making good progress on the Bad Gal Bodega script. I finished the treatment, and I’ve written the first few pages already! Page count should be about twenty-five story pages or thereabouts, and the working title of the story is… Bad Gal Bodega vs. The Primordial Oooze! I’m thinking of hiring an editor this time, as I want to do a really good job on it. I don’t think I’ll be printing it this year, however – maybe early next year.
Yay, a new story page! WITH SHOCKING TWIST!
I can’t express how good it feels to be able to work on comic pages during the week, again. My work-life balance as of recent has been pretty terrible, and I’ve just been so tired. Sometimes, the only thing getting me through the day is the knowledge that I’m making progress with my professional creative presnce. Some days, I even think of myself as a real artist!
Here’s hoping my evenings stay clear from now on (despite yesterday’s efforts to throw me off track. Seriously, quarter to friggin five a new thing came in. Yeesh.) – it’s so much more fun doing art than dreaming about doing art.
Hi everyone. Still incredibly busy, and recovering from injury, plus Small Press Day on Saturday – this is pencils for a print I hope to have on sale there.
Have a great weekend, folks.

Hi folks, sorry for yet more filler – a combination of work, preparation for my friend’s wedding, and a horrendous injury (seriously, do NOT strain your tibiala anterior, that shit HURTS) have meant I’ve had to minimise my time spent at my drawing board and machine.
So I thought I’d colour the ideas I had from last week – going for a bright, almost neon palette. Might do some studies of 90s comics and advertising, actually. The key thing is, though, I really want to keep the key colours associated with each character – can anyone hazard a guess as to what the Bad Gals’ colour schemes are references to? 😀
Hey everyone, sorry for the filler, but it’s been another incredibly busy week, with late nights and tiredness all round and not enough time to do the comic. On the plus side, I did get along to last night’s Drink and Draw session, which was great, got to catch up with a few people there. So I doodled down some ideas I’ve been working on, in this case “Bad Gal Bodega”. Imagine a corner store run by three ladies with badditude, located in a town just teeming with mad scientists, alien invaders, ancient prophecies, etc etc…
Hey folks! Not much time to write this post, but just to recap briefly:
Have a great one, everyone, and I’ll see you next week!
