Ello there, all! Today’s page is just a little Extra, in-between arc blocks, and is a little celebration of the fact that Elf Blood is just a little over 3 years old now! I’d also like to point out that I’m eating noodles, not Millie’s hairm which I have just noticed it might look like.
Anyways, I’ve been brainstorming some ideas for a script submission. Stop me if any of this sounds familiar:
Some people are born with magical ability. These people are identified in their infancy through monitoring systems in place with psychologists and social workers. These children are kidnapped and raised alongside each other in a government institution. There, they learn to control their powers, and are bound to serve the government upon graduation. They serve alongside the others that they have grown up with, and each team is a surrogate family unit.
Happy mid-autumn festival everyone! Hope you did something appropriately Chinese and had plenty of mooncake. Remember, westerners, if you get the bit of the cake with the salted egg yolk in it, it’s a GOOD THING.
It’s at times like these that I miss being with my family. I’m constantly forgetting about mid-autumn festival, and various other festivals, and I don’treally have many Chinese friends around here with whom I might share a Chinese meal on these occaisions. Chinese New Year is something that I always get to celebrate, though, what with the massive celebration that goes on in Chinatown here; It’s one time I truly feel part of a community.
Whew! It’s been a long arc, hasn’t it? But there’s no rest for the wicked, and the new Dreamland Arc starts next Friday! In addition, I’m almost ready to launch something completely different, but you’re going to have to wait until Monday’s update to see what it is!
People frequently tell me I’m too busy, and perhaps they’re right. But to me, I have to work hard on these projects. If I didn’t, all I would be doing is thinking about doing them anyway, so I feel it’s better to use my time in this manner and put up with a bit of stress than to sit around being generally miserable and feeling sorry for myself. Sure, maybe I’m giving up a bit of social life, but I’ve got my friends, and we get to go places and hang out. Could definitely do with a little boost in the romance department, though, although to be honest even if I had the time I’m pretty terrible at even asking ladies out. Yes, I am nerd classic.
Morning/Afternoon/Evening all!
What a fantastic day yesterday was! The Manchester Day Parade went off without a hitch, with fantastic weather and a plethora of inspired floats moving along the route. It was so great to see not just so many fun designs, and talented and committed community groups participitating, but also the excellent turnout from members of the public. There’s really no better feeling than wheeling a float along the city streets with thousands of people cheering you on from all sides, young and old alike! The artists who worked on the creations really did themselves a huge credit; All the centrepieces were fascinating, bright and really involving, and the performers along the route did a great job engaging with the crowd. Full props to the School of Samba. The man known to us only as the Dance Commander clearly loves what he does, and has a bitchin’ awesome uniform to boot! 😛
This rant will get mildly political, so those of you just here for the comics are excused from class early!
Now, I’m sure I’ve made mention of the British National Party in posts before the big database meltdown, but for those of you outside of the UK or who are otherwise unfamiliar with them, they are a far-right group that are gaining an alarming amount of legitimacy, mostly through disaffected areas in England.
The news story involving them this week comes as the London Mayoral elections loom over us. I say loom, because we’re constantly subjected to London-centric news despite such affairs not really affecting much of the rest of us, which I wouldn’t normally mind but what with the Olympics coming up we’re seeing a lot more ‘Yay, London, IT WILL BENEFIT US ALL’ which I believe mostly to be lies but oh well. Apparently, the major political parties withdrew their candidates from an interview upon hearing that the BNP candidate had also been invited.
I think this solves the ‘Extra’ Dilemma I had been having quite nicely: I’m beginning to run out of people to illustrate for the purpose of doing these breather episodes in-between blocks in the arc. While Elf Blood Extra allows me to expand the Elf Blood universe and share the larger construct with you guys, I thought it would be nice to create something that allows you to see the Elf Blood characters in their more everyday lives. Today’s is SKO; I love the idea that in her downtime, she likes to go biking, that the danger of such exposed travel at high speed gave her a thrill that betrays the daredevil, fun-lover underneath her often chilly exterior. I was actually going to do an Elf Blood Casual featuring Millie Bach, but then I realised that the last Extra was, itself, one about Millie.

Well, I managed to get the site up and running again, no thanks to the hosting company. Let’s hope that the database server is a bit more stable than it has been!
Anyway, apologies for the downtime, I hope you managed to get the postcards on the temporary site I set up! I also apologise for the lack of shading on this page: The idea was for me to come back and ease myself back in with a little light shading work. Instead, I got to spend a couple of hours populating a brand new WordPress database. Yay!
