Happy Birthday, Elf Blood!

Elf Blood is two years old this week! Wow, it feels like hardly any time at all has passed!

I suppose it’s fitting enough that today is the first day I include changes to the comic based on advice given to me at last weekend’s Doki Doki convention. Flipping through the comic lets me see just how much I’ve improved over the last two years, owing no small part to the twice-weekly commitment of illustrating Elf Blood.

But, as last weekend went to show, I still have plenty to learn! And that’s the good thing about Elf Blood: Because I do it on a week-to-week basis, I can tweak it, improve it, take advice on it and let it grow organically. Learning

Well, today was Manchester’s Doki Doki anime and manga convention; I consider it somewhat of a warmup to next week’s Thought Bubble festival, but oen thing I have noticed is the marked difference between the atmospheres of the two conventions. In Doki Doki the crowd is noticeably younger, but with that comes a special kind of energy that only youth can bring; It is passionate, friendly, occaisionally impertinent and challenging, and it is quite infectious. It was fantastic to see not just so many young people, but also the parents engaging with their childrens’ interests and taking an active role in their enjoyment and education in life. read more

I wuv oo diiiiis much

Ah, not a long post today, since I’m ill and I have to get up in 3.5 hours for work, but damn if it wasn’t worth it! I think I did quite a good job on this page, and I did it all for you my beloved readers 😀

It’s going to be a really tiring couple of weeks: It’s Doki Doki this weekend, and I’m really looking forward to it! I’ve never actually been to an anime convention before, just comic cons. Most likely will be meeting up with the same crew as I usually do around here though, which will be fun! read more

The deadline approacheth

Well, this weekend is the Doki Doki Anime convention in Manchester, at which I’ll be catching up with other creators, meeting new ones and, most importantly, showing off the draft of my print comic ‘Memecasters’ to potential distributors!

Following that is probably the North West’s most important comic-related occurrence, the annual Thought Bubble Festival; The aim is to get all editing to the comic done before then, with printing occurring shortly after in time for me to get the comic to shops in time for people to buy it for Christmas! read more

Back in the saddle!

It’s great to be back and drawing Elf Blood again! I think the couple of weeks away did me some real good, even if it was interspersed with a little technical difficulty! I feel refreshed and eager to draw the brand spanking new storyline, which I hope you’ll all enjoy!

I hope you guys enjoyed the postcards I put up while I was away. Hong Kong is a place that means a hell of a lot to me, and I enjoy going back there not just for the good weather and the good food, but because it’s a city that’s part of me and my personal character. For the relatives I don’t get to see very often, my super-smart cousins, my generous and kind-hearted aunts and uncles. My mui-mui is growing up so fast, and she’s adorable 🙂 read more
