Hey guys! Well, it’s Monday, it’s a bank holiday in Canada, but not for us, as we’re from the UK and so we must work in an abandoned building!
Anyway, in lieu of a Mei Wu page today, here’s a concept I’ve come up with for one of the Hot Vinyl stickers. I wanted a character who could be a bit tomboyish, an attractive female figure who could take on a role traditionally associated with masculinity without becoming overly sexualised or fetishized. So was born Socket Wrench Molly.

Hey everyone,
Before I launch into my rant, I just wanted to explain this page a wee bit – Now, I know that my very good pal Masati will tell me off for adding to my list of projects, but this one works in conjunction with my current drive towards creating enough stuff to sell at conventions and comic fairs etc. Now, when I were a lad, there was (and maybe still is) a company that produced a line of vinyl stickers, branded “Hook-Ups” – they were manga-styled and aimed at the skater market, and they wound up on my bass guitar. However, looking at them now, while stylish, they aren’t exactly the most… enlightened of designs.
One thing you’ll never see me portray in a positive light, or in a trivial manner? Torture. Trump is getting worse and worse, day by day – I thought denying facts, subverting science, and censoring the media was bad enough. But when those words came out of the White House – “Torture works”. My blood boiled.
The man is a fascist. The man is a monster. Stand up to him, America, because our spineless Prime Minister won’t.

Hullo all! Hope you’re doing well – I, in particular, am having a pretty awesome time during this wee break from having to do the comic twice weekly. Don’t get me wrong, I love doing the comic! But I get so few chances to have a wee break from it, and unfortunately while work is acting up that means my print work suffers as a result!
So, today, I thought I’d show you a panel from a page I’ve finished off today, for my horror short anthology “Horror Buffet”. Because they’re entire stories told in a single page, I couldn’t really show you too much more without compromising on this particular tale, but I hope I’ve managed to capture most of the chill in this one panel!
I’m fed up of having to miss pages because of other peoples’ incompetence. I cannot be the only person in here capable of doing what I do. I left my previous role precisely to avoid this kind of last-minute high-stakes bullshit, but apparently they haven’t found anyone to replace me and my skillset.
You want me to save your fucking six million dollar deal? Give me a goddamn percentage of it. Until then, I am done. DONE. Saving your asses. See my part? My part works. Yeah, there were a couple of problems with it, but I’ve taken them on-board and – let’s face it – they weren’t the things that were holding the project back. See all the nonsense I’ve had to correct along the way? All the mis-configurations, the misunderstandings, the miscommunications and the OUTRIGHT BUTCHERING of the work that I did for the product?
Hey folks – just one more filler extra. Sorry again about the need for this, but a work trip abroad was sprung upon me at the last minute that overlapped with my weekend (which frankly I think should not be allowed) and I haven’t had the chance to rest let alone work on comics.
As consolation, I guess, I brought my sketchbook along and did some drawing (with, as you’ll notice, my spiffing new blue pencil leads which for some reason makes drawing feel swankier). I tried drawing something like the old Good Gal artwork, but with more… attitude, I guess, and with a more subtle sexuality. I’d like to expand this out to both Good Gal and Good Guy artwork and produce a series of vinyl stickers. When I was younger, I bought a few manga-style stickers from a series called ‘hook-ups’ that were meant to be applied to skateboards. These still live on the plectrum guard of my bass guitar, and formed the inspiration basis of this idea.
Hi everyone – sorry about this extra page. I got told on Friday lunchtime that I’d have to travel this weekend to go to one of our suppliers next week to fix a problem that isn’t actually my problem to fix, on a project I don’t actually work on.
Corporate job, hooray.
Unfortunately I’m unlikely to get a full page done for next Friday either, so I’ll likely be putting up another extra page, which I apologise for but will find it difficult to avoid.

Hey everyone! Please enjoy this piece of art I did as a study of Brandon Graham’s artwork. I really enjoy his style, and I’m trying to inject a bit of it into my own work – though it probably won’t make it into Elf Blood’s style, I’m going to try and work it into some of my upcoming print work.

Jeez, how long have I been committing this particular form of madness? Seven years? Blimey, it seems just like yesterday I was putting pencil to paper for the first time… I really have grown massively both as an artist and as a storyteller, and the fact that the comic has actually gotten me work is something I will remain eternally grateful to it for. Elf Blood is so much more than just a practice piece for me – it’s a part of me, it’s the story I have to tell, with characters I care for almost over and above characters from other stories I create!
