Recap time!

And thus ends The Child story arc!

Hopefully you enjoyed it – it was a little more action-oriented than my usual fare, which was quite entertaining to draw. Most importantly though, I feel that I’ve improved my artwork throughout this arc. I actually took the time to learn a little bit about color-coordination, and while it’s still not perfect, I’ve definitely got a better look going now. I’ll still probably tweak it for the next arc, but still, the more you know! My lineart I feel has also improved, even if just a little bit! read more

Happy Birthday to Meeeeeee

Hola! I’ll keep this short and sweet, as I really should be in bed for work in a few hours, but also because I’m knackered! It’s been an awesomely fun week; I had a few days off to celebrate my birthday and one of my good pal’s birthdays, and much bbq was consumed. I think I’m getting my recipe for bbq sauce down pat!

Biological Clock… Ticking…

I’m pretty sure my oestrogen levels just shot right up with that panel there. I do draw an adorable baby, even if I do say so myself!

I’ve always wanted to have children. Not, like, immediately right now, of course; I’ve stil got loads and loads to get done before I’d feel accomplished and stable enough to bring a new life into the world. But I do feel I should be putting more effort into finding a partner. As you may know from years of reading my blog posts, I’m not particularly brilliant with the opposite sex; my cocktail of mental issues, a few bad experiences, all coupled with my less-than-stellar looks have combined to give me what has been a relatively relationship-free life so far. read more

Stuff to Love About Summer

As I very nearly forgot to upload the comic again, and it’s now very late indeed, I thought I’d just fill today’s post with some lovely stuff about summer! God knows we could all use a bit of positive thinking, what with conflict and aerial disasters happening left, right, and centre.

  • Long days
  • Pretty flowers
  • Prettier butterflies
  • Special bugs
  • The warm feel of sun-kissed earth under your feet
  • The coolness of the grass when you inevitably step on a REALLY hot bit of ground
  • Blue skies
  • Fluffy clouds
  • Actually being glad when it rains
  • The smell of barbecue wafting through the air
  • Being able to sit outside at a restaurant or cafe without freezing halfway to death
  • Justifiable ice-cream!

Hidden Gems

Hullo all! Just a brief post, as I’ve knackered myself through a combination of illustration and packing today. I decided to sort and pack away or discard a bunch of papers in my drawer and in my cupboard. I managed to find a load of drawings that go up to about 8 years old. My word, have I improved in the intervening time! I even rescued comic pencils from about 6 years ago for a comic I did called Organ Grinda. Not that I intend on using the pencils to create a new comic, but rather that I actually quite enjoyed the style and universe of the work! I wouldn’t mind re-doing the script and visuals, once I’m back in Glasgow and have a bit of time! read more

Posts of no consequence: Lack of Sleep Edition

It’s not that I’ve not been sleeping well, or even that I’ve been staying up later than normal (although I do tend to stay up rather later than most people would consider sane, just to keep up with the comic). I’ve just been feeling incredibly sleepy as of recent, during the day!

Time was that I would connect the sleepiness to my low moods, but as of recent I’ve been in an exceptionally GOOD mood, seeing as how I’m heading back home to Glasgow soon! One might argue that I’m simply stressed out about the move, and I’ll admit that I’m almost constantly thinking about it. But it’s different. I’m not anxious about it, nor am I worried in any major respect. It’s just a major event that’s coming up, and I need to plan for it! read more

Visit Edinburgh!

Hullo everyone!

You may remember from a few weeks ago, in response to my lyrical waxing on my return to Scotland, that Kracka asked me for advice on where to go in Edinburgh. Sadly, I haven’t been to our great capital in almost a decade, and so I didn’t feel particularly well-placed to provide advice.

So what I did was I asked my old school-chum Dr. Jill MacKay, who’s lived and worked in Edinburgh for a good long time, for her insider knowledge of the city! Jill is not only an expert in the zoological sciences, she is a fantastic writer as well – I heartily recommend following her animal welfare science blog, ‘fluffysciences’, for informative articles, breaking news, and even Let’s Plays! read more

Artistic cross-pollination

ART SHIFT!

It’s a little crude, I’ll admit, but I’m quite pleased with the effect granted by illustrating the goddess figure in a completely different style. As you may already know, I’ve been doing a lot more acrylic painting recently, and I’ve been picking up a lot of good tips and tricks along the way. Key of which is to hold one’s nerve, and not to panic when things go wrong; if you make a mistake, it’s not the end of the world, you can always fix things by painting it out or letting it dry and painting over it. One video tutorial I looked at (and then abandoned because it was really more of an extended advert for the artist’s work) summarised the experience well,  saying that when painting using acrylics, all you’re really doing is pushing paint around the canvas. read more

It’s another… Post of no consequence!

Hullo thar, everyone!

I’ve been racking my brains for the last few minutes desperately trying to come up with a post to accompany today’s page but, sadly, nothing of any real consequence or import is forthcoming.

So I’m just gonna let this one go, informally, uncelebrated, as I sit here basking in the glow of my fan-heater (it’s still a bit chilly here). I’ve been preparing all day for something I’ve got to do tomorrow, and now I think I’ve earned the… I’m not sure if it even has a name. One part orange juice, two parts cloudy lemonade, a dash of grenadine syrup. It’s quite pleasant to drink and to look at. Kinda like  a non-alcoholic tequila sunrise. read more
