Whew, that was a good arc, if I do say so myself! It’s good to be done with it, though, and to move onto the next thing. In this case, we’re not moving on to the next arc of Elf Blood, but instead to a single-block arc of a new work of mine, Mei Wu. Fear not! If you enjoy Elf Blood, I think you’ll enjoy Mei Wu as well – it’s more modern urban fantasy action, but instead of the Central European/North American flavouring of EB, instead it has a disinctly Cantonese theme and setting! It’ll also become a print work soon after, with extra content specially created for the paid-for version!

It’s still a few weeks away from the end of the Crush Depth story arc, but I’ve got to say I’m thoroughly enjoying writing the Mei Wu story and am looking forward to drawing it immensely! I’ve expanded the page count to 15 pages, so it should run for around two months, before the next arc of Elf Blood starts up again! Look forward to that one; it’s mostly action, with a smattering of emotion, and plenty of ass-kicking.
Mei Wu itself is shaping up nicely. I’m almost done with the first draft, and the second draft should weed out some inconsistencies in character motivations. I really like the Ash-Gwen dynamic; it’s actually quite similar to how I originally envisioned Fliss-Mara interactions. Because it’s the first issue, I’m having fun planting little seeds of future character development here and there, too!
Finally, the review I’ve been promising you all week! It won’t be brilliantly written, but hey, hopefully I can give you a bit more information on the game!
Gone Home is a new game by the Fullbright Company, an indie team of game developers. It eschews violence for story, and indeed many of the usual trappings one might expect from modern games, in favour of telling a story. Actually, what the game does is tell multiple stories, centered around one main story.
Gameplay-wise, it’s very simple. You return from a year abroad, to find your parents’ new home empty. It’s up to you to explore this 19th-century mansion and unravel the reason as to why nobody is there to greet you; and what the deal is with the frantic phone message you’ve just picked up on the answering machine.
Hi guys, yet another quick update; Was in work until 2130, and I need to be in for 0600, so I really must be dashing off to bed! Enjoy today’s page, and I’ll see you again on Monday, where I’ll hopefully have a review of the Fullbright Company’s game ‘Gone Home’ for you!
Have a great weekend, guys!

Hola! I know that a good number of you are quite keen on the world’s favourite pastime, cookery (citation needed), and I’ve shared some of my own recipes with you in the past. Today, however, I’m going to ask you all for some suggestions! I’ve just been chatting with one of my friends about the possibility of using baked camembert as a main course.
Now, usually I’ve found baked cheeses present as part of a sharing platter; with the sheer richness of camembert, it’s not difficult to see why. But would it be possible to have either a whole or a half a baked camembert as the central item in a main dish? I reckon so, if you got the rest of the dish right.
Hola, everyone! Another brief post today, as it’s currently half one the night before this page goes live, and I’ve been somewhat caught up in staying late at work, failing miserably to keep to exercise and dietary regimens, and not having enough actual downtime to not be horribly distracted while working on the next Elf Blood page! Just as well I’ve got a buffer, eh? 😛
Anyways, thanks for the interest in Mei Wu so far, guys! It encourages me and affirms that I’m doing something worthwhile that you’ll enjoy!
It’s a bank holiday today, huzzah! I might venture into town for a coffee, or a nice lunch. Wish payday came before the holiday weekend, though, still counting them pennies!
Anyway, I’m just going to keep it brief so as to wander off and not do those things, instead working on art 😛 But before I go, have a quick look-see at some warm-ups I’ve been doing for the upcoming Mei-Wu block! I think you’ll enjoy it, and it’ll provide a nice little break in-between this and the next arc of Elf Blood!
Today’s post has a bit of required reading, so direct your peepers thusly if you wouldn’t mind!

All done? Grand! Now, let’s have a chat about the content.
For those who didn’t do the required reading, first off ten points from Gryffindor. EACH. And to catch you up, this article is a short assessment on Scottish culture, how it enacts a socialist structure and (for some reason) commentary on the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.
Welp, another weekend has come and gone, and the week looms over us like a… Great big looming thing. I’m feeling pretty knackered, and though I’ve not done anywhere NEAR the work I should have, I’m still feeling pretty chirpy! It’s been an unusually sociable weekend for me, and it’s been great catching up with people over dinner and the cinema.
Ah well, back to the grind, I suppose. Enjoy today’s page, and I’ll work on getting caught up to the work I didn’t get done this weekend! Cheerio!
So, I caved in and finally got a Netflix subscription the other day.
BEST. DECISION. EVER! There’s plenty on there that I love watching, including gems that I haven’t seen in a while, like the fantastic mid-90s animation Hey, Arnold!
If you haven’t seen Hey, Arnold! before, in a nutshell it’s nominally a kid’s series about the titular character and his friends being kids in the city. In modern terms, it’s almost like a slice-of-life story, with a varied cast of characters from all walks of life. More importantly, each story wasn’t just a fun story about stuff the average 9-year old does (or wishes they could do), it usually also contained a moral too. What was great about the writing was that it never felt like you were being beaten over the head, or preached to; Rather, it seemed to serve more as a demonstration of different social scenarios.
