Me, well I’ve been working my rear end off this evening – A couple of friends of mine are having a potluck get-together at their place tomorrow night, and I fully intend to make a big contribution to the dinner! So what I’ve made is as follows:
Hullo all! It’s late again, but I did promise you my review of the new Coen Brothers’ film, Hail Caesar!, so I thought I’d put it in a nutshell for you!
Hail Caesar! is not going to be a film for everyone – I’m saying this right now. It is more than a bit quirky, without being overly odd, and the whole film is steeped very deeply in Christian symbology – fitting for the eponymous film-within-a-film, which is an early fifties attempt at telling the story of The Christ. Ultimately, the thing that may put people off is that it is a film in which a lot happens, yet nothing happens. By the end, status quo reigns supreme.
Hello all, no time again for me to write up a substantial blog post, but ohpefully on Monday I’ll be able to share with you a review of the main reason my schedule has been impacted this week – I’ve been to the Glasgow Film Festival, to see the premiere of the Coen Brothers’ new film, Hail Caesar! More on that on Monday!

Hullo all! Wow, it’s been a busy weekend – Not only have I had to contend with additional workload ahead of my couple of days in Manchester this week, it’s also been the time for the traditional Chinese New Year dinner with family. This year, particularly special because two of my cousins are over from Hong Kong studying, and it was really nice to see both of them! I did, however, manage to sneak in an hour or two of the newly launched XCOM 2, and let me tell you, it’s something special. So far, I’m finding it even more tense than Enemy Unknown, and the storyline is fascinating; I think they managed to hide away enough from the teasers they released ahead of the game to make the story totally compelling, even for someone who has followed news of the game in development. Definitely worth a look in.
