Hey everyone, just a quick one today – a little observation that, when people talk about battling mental illness, it’s almost a literalism. I’m alright, but I’ve spent most of today actively having to fight against a little surge in my low-self esteem. It’s not much fun having to constantly re-guide myself back towards the task at hand, actively straining against long stretches of fruitless introspection, painful reminiscing and ultimately self-pitying google searches. It stretches the day out and leaves me tired and emotionally drained, as I constantly dance between wanting to throw myself into my work or wanting to find someone to spill my guts to.

Hey all, just a brief message for today, mostly directed at you good folks across the pond;
What in the name of the seven hells is going on over there? I mean really, seriously, what? It’s just… What?
Then again, the UK’s not really much better off right now ourselves, so…
Welp, one cannot say that we don’t live in interesting times! Stay safe, everyone, and keep your communities close – we’re all going to need each other, no matter your position in society or where you are.
One of the oddest things about being a creator is that you’re driven to seek out conversation and companionship, while simultaneously trying to constantly return to some kind of individualistic hermithood, the solitude in which one can actually get things done. Nowhere is this more evident than in the festive season!
I love my family and friends, I really do, and I suppose this statement will potentially come off as being somewhat selfish and ungrateful – but I’m glad that all my social engagements are now concluded! Don’t get me wrong, I absolutely adored every minute I spent with them. I caught up with some people I haven’t seen in a long time, I’ve had some excellent laughs with others and I’ve made some brilliant memories with others yet still.
Hey everyone! Just a quick post today, as I’m still knackered from Monday’s Urban Exploration antics – I’ve never climbed my way through so much forest before. But it was so totally worth it! I’ll maybe share a few of my photos with you, once I’ve processed them.
Anyway, going to lie in bed for half an hour before I have to get up for work. Catch you all again on Monday!
Cheerio,
M.
Happy New Year everyone! Hope you had a great celebration, whether you were with family, friends, or having a quiet one on your own!
Just going to leave a brief message here as I REALLY need to go pack my bag – going to do some photography and sketching today and I am WOEFULLY underprepared. Largely because I’ve spent the last two days eating far too much at my folks’ house and had to draw today’s page mostly in the last few hours 😛
Toodle-oo for now!

Welp, I’ve come to the end of another holiday week – Let’s see how I’ve done this time!
- MAIN QUEST: Complete my commission to draw and paint a friend’s daughter for her Christmas present. – ALMOST COMPLETE! I just need to fix some of the backgrounds, which I’m hoping can be done in one or two more glazes.
- MAIN QUEST: Tidy up this pig-sty. – ALMOST COMPLETE! The living room took longer than expected, so the kitchen is still an utter tip, but at least everywhere else is sparkling new and presentable!
- MAIN QUEST: Complete at least one page of the Horror Buffet anthology. Bonus points if I can complete it! – ALMOST COMPLETE! I just need to put the shading on this page, so I’m hoping to do that tomorrow evening. I quite enjoyed doing this page actually, as it walks that fine line between horror and comedy.
- SIDE QUEST: Replicate my delicious keema madras recipe. Seriously, it was… So damn tasty. – QUEST COMPLETE! Oh my word you guys, it was amazing. Not quite as spicy as last time, but damn flavoursome.
- SIDE QUEST: Make some onigiri – Chicken and black bean, chilli prawn mayo, salt salmon. – QUEST COMPLETE! I even shared some with my good pal Bertiebaggio, who deemed them delicious!
- SIDE QUEST: Get some Christmas shopping done. – QUEST FAILED SPECTACULARLY
- FACTION QUEST: Record a Let’s Play of Manuel Samuel for The Gallus Geeks. – QUEST FAILED. I just didn’t get the time, unfortunately!
- FACTION QUEST: Hold a Livestream of The Long Dark for The Gallus Geeks. – QUEST COMPLETE! It’s been really good fun, actually! Check out the recordings on the Gallus Geeks YouTube channel!
I think I also deserve a feckin medal for surviving the drinking session on Wednesday evening – met up with some old school friends at a bar one of them now owns. I have not drank like that since leaving Manchester – probably since leaving uni. 4 double rums and cokes and a shot of Jaegermeister. Bloody hell. Just about staggered to the taxi and into my house. ASIANS WERE NEVER MEANT TO DRINK LIKE THIS.
Hola mes amigos y amigas! Sorry today’s page was a wee bit late, I must’ve fallen asleep at some point just before finishing it… Such is the life of the artist by night, I’m afraid.
Well, it’s another holiday week, so as is tradition, here is a list of things for me to fail at!
Hola, everybody!
Well, that’s another holiday week come and gone – let’s have a review of that list I made for myself, shall we?
Misses:
Hullo all – not much to report over here, really, just keeping myself busy at work and outside! Never enough hours in the day, etc.
Anyway, best get cracking – Hope you all have a great weekend!
Cheers,
M.
Well, this weekend was supremely unproductive. Don’t get me wrong, it was quite enjoyable – visiting with family, doing a bit of exercise and tidying up, playing video games – but I feel like I totally lost the opportunity to do anything meaningful.
Ah well, will just have to double up my efforts this week, then! Where there’s a will, there’s a way, etc.
Have a great week folks, and I’ll see you again on Friday!
M.
