Now that I’m back in Glasgow, and things are a little less stressful, I thought I’d start getting a head-start on the ol’ weight-loss before restarting Slimblog proper. To this end, I decided to hit the swimming pool.
My logic was thus; When you’re in the pool, you’re buoyed by the water, and you don’t get all hot and sweaty like when you go jogging. Plus, it’s also a full-body workout, so that can’t be a bad thing, right?
Oh dear God how wrong I was.
The majority of you lovely people out there don’t know me personally, but if you did, you’d probably know that I’m not massively keen on sports of any kind, least of all football (the soccer kind, but you knew that already).
I gave the world cup a good proper try this time. Right at the start, I said to myself: “Chris,” for ’tis my name, “We are going to try and actually watch the world cup. It’s culturally relevant and it’s important to lots of your friends, so why don’t we actually put in a little effort this time?”
Let me tell you what absolute bliss is:
It’s finding out that your new workplace is pretty damn chill, the work is interesting, and the company really does need your precise skillset. And you get a chance to demonstrate it!
It’s spending a nice quarter hour sitting on the steps of Glasgow Royal Concert Hall as the sun sets on Sauchiehall street, sipping an iced latte and listening to a classical guitarist.
It’s meeting up with an old pal, and meeting a new pal, and going for a nice meal.
The day is finally here! It’s been a hectic weekend, getting everything packed away, and it’s a little sad to see the flat that I’ve lived in for the last four years go back to the blank, anonymous state I found it in, but every time I think of what’s waiting for me at the end of that trip… It’s all gonna be worthwhile! So, farewell Manchester! Goodbye to all the friends and colleagues I’ve met here, and I hope everything goes brilliantly for you!

Welp, the weekend is upon us! Today is my last day at my current job, and on Monday I move back to my beloved Glasgow! This weekend’ll be spent packing up the rest of my stuff, and hopefully everything’ll go just dandy.
The next couple of weeks’ posts will be scheduled, but I’ll probably write the actual posts live, just to keep you updated with what’s happening! I’ll also be using some fanart to help smooth things over a bit, graciously passed on by one of my pals and fellow writers/artists here in Manchester. Apologies for the brief post, but I actually veeeeery nearly forgot to upload today’s comic page! It’s a bank holiday today, you see, and I may have stayed up late playing strategy games with a couple of pals… We won, after a long and protracted battle.
Oh, speaking of long and protracted battles, I got a very interesting letter through my mailbox at the weekend. It was from an ISP who said that one of their customers had requested that my current phoneline and broadband supply be switched over to their control, and if this was incorrect that I should contact them to sort things out. The name of this ISP?
Are you looking for a new telephone and broadband provider in the UK? Well, my friend, let me offer you some advice!
Stay the hell away from Sky.
Sky does not understand the concept of customer service, and will attempt to make YOU do all the legwork to resolve problems of their own creation. They will constantly resort to ridiculous advice to try and throw you off, and to keep you down.
On Monday, I received two text messages out of the blue. These messages informed me that my new service provider would be taking over supply of voice and broadband… That very day. Needless to say, I was rather annoyed. I hadn’t requested any change of supplier. I’m moving in a month, why the hell would I lock myself into a new contract?
Well, another fairly uneventful weekend has come and gone (entirely too quickly) but I did indulge in a little culinary awesomeness, which was most tasty!
Saturday’s serving was copied from an episode of Man v Food I once saw. Not one of the challenges, obviously – I hath not the material resources to tackle such mighty tasks. No, I made an attempt at a ‘Jucy Lucy’, a burger with a core of molten cheese. After much consideration, I went with 100% beef patties (home-made, of course), stuffed with grated Emmental (Swiss) and served on a bun with lettuce and sliced tomato, topped with sliced Canadian cheddar. Overall result: Friggin tasty. I do believe I could’ve made the burgers themselves larger and thinner, to contain more of the cheese filling, and it would’ve been even better. Also, I could’ve done a better job of re-sealing the two halves of the patty; Where the cheese seeps out, it becomes toasted rather than molten, which does give it a whole different flavour and texture. Definitely something I’ll try again!
Aaaaaah! It’s just over a month to go before I move back to Glasgow! Excitement reigns supreme within me.

Anyway, all I’ve left to do is remind all you lovely people that entries are still being accepted for the fanart run! Just to tide the site over for a couple of weeks while I move and get settled in at my parents (gotta run out the contract on the current flat before I can afford to find a new flat in Glasgow, hurray) I’ll be showcasing Elf Blood fanart that I’ve been sent!
