Not Mr. Bringdown!
Hullo all! I reckon I owe you all an apology for being a bit of a buzz-kill over the last week or so. I don’t want to bring anyone down, and I don’t mean to inflict you with my depression! Anyway, hope I haven’t bothered anyone with my whininess.
Anyway, moving on; big news this week. Thatcher is dead, and the nation is going a touch crazy. Don’t get me wrong, I have no fondness for the woman (mostly born out of my father’s socialist influence, but he made good points nonetheless), and I don’t believe in the concept of “don’t speak ill of the dead”. After all, she engendered a culture focussed on greed and self-importance that has crippled our nation’s ability to defend itself in the face of economic collapse. However, I strongly disagree with the notion of actively celebrating her death. Death is not something that should be treated lightly. Particularly in this case; She was so far removed from power and influence these days, what difference did her death make to the world as a whole?
Even for people whose cessation of existence is a marked improvement in the state of the world, Sadaam Hussein, Osama Bin Laden, Muammar Gadaffi; when I learned of their deaths, I didn’t jump for joy. I acknowledged that perhaps their deaths were indeed necessary, contemplated the sacrifices that had been made to get to this stage, and carried on as normal. I suppose some might suggest that I have a somewhat blasé towards political sentiment but, still, death is something that is too serious to be made light of.
Anyway, soapbox over. News time! I’ve finally narrowed down a decent storyline for a Ludwig & Lucia short comic, and it’s definitely something I can manage with a couple of weeks’ worth of work, so I’m quite looking forward to producing and selling that! I still need to pull my finger out (is that an exclusively British saying? It suddenly occurs to me that it might sound odd to those not familiar with it) and implement a shop to allow me to sell my existing work, Memecasters, online to those of you interested in buying it. Also, I’m considering taking commissions, at the advice of other artists. Is that a service any of you might be interested in? Let me know!
Anyway, ciao for now! Enjoy today’s page and stay tuned for more on Monday!

I didn’t see the couple part coming…and massive secret? Wuuuut…
thank you for the laugh, that last line is epic!!! cant wait to see how this turns out!
I notice more and more of your characters are coupling up – was this planned to coincide, or did it just work out that way?
The couples have been planned for a while, but their emergence in relatively close proximity was not. Having said that, TKO and JN have been together since the start, as have Buma and Gipsy, with Shanna completing that particular triangle through past relationship. King and SKO were first hinted at in the second story arc, as were Carlita and Fliss, though at that point they weren’t actually dating and were simply growing closer. Roderick and Ixnay weren’t really hinted at, but had been planned for a while; I wanted Ixnay to have strong ties to the land she fled, although I probably could’ve written the entire thing a bit better. Mara and Mint have long been hinted at, but I didn’t want to fall into the trap of turning it into a massive thing. Hence the off-screen hookup, although it will be toyed with; THAT’s the interesting bit, so far as I’m concerned!
I figured Mint wasn’t such a fool! He got Millie – let’s see for how long!
