It’s a bit windy out!
Remember that fantastic and action-packed weekend I was talking about on Friday? Yeeeeah, I think I managed to achieve about 20% of that due to the inclement weather, which made even going to the corner store a trek and a half. Fortunately, that 20% I did manage to get done was jam-packed with awesomeness, due in no small part to the Avengers film.
I’ve thoroughly enjoyed all the Marvel studios films I’ve seen thus far, and we all knew that they were eventually leading towards this fantastic, spectacular outing. I’m not going to do a full review here, but here are the pertinent parts:
- The first ten minutes kind of feel odd, but are necessary and don’t detract from enjoyment of the film.
- Comics fans are probably going to get a lot more out of the film than the general populace, but it stands well on its own as an enjoyable superhero film anyway.
- Holy crap, that IS Robin from How I Met Your Mother.
- They managed to make the Hulk really quite scary.
- Tony Stark is an asshole.
- Joss Whedon has done a really good job on this film. And this comes from somebody who previously harboured an irrational dislike of him and his work. Don’t ask me why, I personally reckon it’s petty jealousy, but he’s really won me over with this film.
- Tony Stark is friggin awesome.
Also, if you’re going to see the film, STAY TO THE END OF THE CREDITS. As usual, there’s a little Marvel Studios stinger in there. All in all, my recommendation is to go and see it. It’s got some awesome action and a great sense of humour, and really truly feels like a Marvel comic come to life.
SPOILERS AND CONJECTURE PAST THIS LINE: HIGHLIGHT TO READ.
From all the clues, particularly near the end, I reckon the next team-up film is going to be about the Civil War. The statesmen arguing about limiting people with superpowers, Cap and Iron Man becoming friendly towards each other to set them up for the fall, the introduction of Maria Hill, the new Spider Man film coming out from Marvel Studios, and I’m pretty sure I saw Red Skull in the stinger… Gotta be Civil War!
And when the hell is proper Deadpool going to make an appearance?
Pardon me whilst I sit here in the States resenting the fact that you bet to see the Avengers before I do!
Really? I would’ve thought that the States would’ve gotten all the big films first! When’s it coming out where you are?
On the 4th. For some reason most movies open up overseas before we see them. Plus all the good shows come out over there first as well, Dr. Who, Top Gear, the Beatles, etc. etc.
