Indyref: Multiculturalism and Yes
Hola folks,
It’s the last comic post before the referendum, and I’m not going to labour any more points on here – What I want to say is to think carefully before you vote, and most importantly to make sure that you DO vote.
So much is at stake here. It’s not just about nationalities, or even party politics. It’s about shaking up the system, about removing the rot and the complacency and making it easier for the downtrodden and those in need to speak up, be heard, and be helped.
A Yes vote gives us the opportunity to put into place a government and a political system that serves the people, not just the government and their select corporate allies. A Yes vote gives us back the power to determine our own future, instead of being harnessed to another country’s decisions. A Yes vote will inspire everyone around the world to rise up and hold their governments responsible for the wellbeing of their people.
Vote Yes for real, meaningful change and a brighter future.
Oh, and before I go, National Collective (the arts and culture movement for independence) published an article I submitted to them! Quite chuffed 😀
Whichever way you lean on the referendum – make sure you go out and vote. This is the single most important thing we’ll ever have voted on, in Scotland.

Congrats on the article you published, it is a very nice piece. I have to disagree on a particular point though.
Currently I am Scottish and I am part of the United Kingdom. While independence does not change what we have contributed to the UK in the past, or what the UK has contributed to us, it will remove the Scottish + UK identity. You cannot have a parting of the ways and still think that you are in both countries at the same time. I take pride in the fact that Scotland contributed to the Olympic games a couple of years ago. I find it disheartening that an independent Scotland won’t be able to do that in future. Yes we’ll possibly be able to host a similar global event here, but then my friends and relations in England / N.Ireland / Wales won’t be able contributed to it in the same way that we could as a single nation. While voting yes certainly doesn’t change the past it will divide the future. It removes the common struggle with anyone else, it leaves us alone. I could pretend that I’ll appreciate Britain more, but it won’t change the fact that we are no longer on the same side, we are no longer British. Their struggles will be their own and we will leave them with them…
LOL A-gwen’s face XD
