Prepare for Print! Yay!

Hola, everyone! Hope you’re all well, and had a great weekend! I spent much of mine arranging layout and renders of my next print work, Bonnie Words, for print. I’m quite excited about releasing this, actually, as it’s my first print work in a few years, and – more importantly – will free me up to work on my NEXT print work, a pair of short horror volumes.

Keep watching the shelves! (If you live in Glasgow, anyway). In the meantime, I’ll be cracking on with the dayjob and attempting to balance my social life with my artistic work. read more

Thunder and lightning and trees, oh my.

It’s been a bit thundery around here as of late, which is pretty cool – I love a good thunderstorm. But I DO tend to prefer that it occur more than ten metres away!

We had gotten to the bottom of the village and the bus was changing drivers. So, naturally, everyone’s just kind of dozing off and waiting to resume our journey towards work. Then, all of a sudden, everything goes white, there’s this massive BANG! noise, and a tree in the copse next to the bus almost explodes! No flame or anything, just pure, searing energy delivered in a fraction of a second. read more

I’m sick of politics. And world news. And just the general state of humanity. So I’m just not going to bother ranting about it. Instead, have a list of things that are better than the state of current affairs:

  • Fallout 4 (which incidentally will be good practice for the next decade)

    Successfully Combatting Sleep (Apnea)

    Again, I’m actively choosing not to discuss the shitbasket that is modern media and politics. Instead, I’m going to give you some good news – I have NEVER felt better rested in my life than this weekend. I’m making more of an effort to address my sleep apnea, and though weight loss will help eventually (once I lose more than a couple of kilograms), the best thing that I’ve done this weekend? Sleeping on my side. That’s it. That’s all. I have not nodded off once during this weekend, during the day! read more

    I, Gamer

    First of all, Eid Mubarak to all my Muslim pals! I can’t imagine that a summer Ramadan has been particularly easy on you with the long hours and all.

    Anyway, I think my brain would actually implode if I went through all the political stuff that’s happened this week, so instead I’m going to brag a bit about the new gaming machine I got – it is rather delicious! Very first thing I did was purchase Fallout 4, install it, and run it on ultra settings on a 4k TV. The computer barely heats up, and the game looks GORGEOUS. Hoping this rig will be able to last me, from a technical standpoint, for at least 5 years or so. read more

    Happy Independence Day!

    Happy 4th of July, all you United Statesians! Hope you have a great day with the people you you love and indulge in plenty of barbecue and fireworks!

    Maybe one day, Scotland too will have its own independence day. Although given our traditional weather systems I highly doubt that it will involve any outdoor activities like barbecue and fireworks šŸ˜›

    It’ll be interesting to see how the Brexit situation continues… It would be quiteĀ undemocratic for parliament to ignore the advice provided by the referendum, but there is a good deal of support for a second referendum or to prevent Brexit altogether. read more

    And Brexit continues

    Well, we’re now well into this particular catastrophe. Let’s recount, shall we?

  • Boris Johnson, one of the key architects of Brexit, refuses to stand for election to Prime Minister.
  • The list of people running for Prime Minister is a who’s-who list of people you’d rather were nowhere near power.
  • Meanwhile theĀ opposition party tears itself apart trying to secure more power for itself, as public faith in Labour dwindles.
  • Racism is on the rise.

    So, Brexit.

    So, the UK has vote to leave the EU. And it’s all gone to shit already, quite predictably. To recap:

  • Our currency has tanked
  • Our Prime Minister has resigned
  • The leaders of Leave admit they don’t have a plan
  • It turns out that many voters didn’t actually know WHAT it was they were voting for, and subsequently want to reverse their vote.

    Political Fear

    As I write this, it’s 0430 and we’re well on our way to leaving the European Union.

    This is a bad thing. A bad. Thing.

    The only consolation is that Scotland thus far seems to be majority Remain, which suggests a sufficiently different political landscape from the rest of the UK – suggesting also that perhaps, just perhaps, we’reĀ not as united as the myopic, imperial haze likes to think we are.

    I’d like to thank Remain-ers everywhere, and I’m proud to see that the two regions I have closest ties to, Manchester and Newcastle, voted in favour of Remain. You guys rock – keep fighting the good fight. read more
